Greenhouse Photo Session at East Pine Plant Shop

One of my favorite things to do is take professional photos of a couple for their first time. When I discovered East Pine Plant Shop a few months ago now, I became obsessed. And then when I realized they had a greenhouse that could be rented out? I was done for. Naturally, my plant-loving friend Cassidy was SO down for a greenhouse photo session with her boyfriend James, and it was so much fun! I’m obsessed with plants and I’ve always dreamed of doing a greenhouse photo session but had no idea how to begin to make that happen. It felt so meant to be.

It’s the middle of winter here in Maine, so the warm humidity and dreamy sunlight inside the greenhouse was more than welcome. I know I should’ve expected it to be humid, but it took me by surprise. Once we let my camera gear adjust and we chatted about Cassidy’s recent trip to Portugal, we dove right in! James was feeling a little nervous about doing photos, but by the end of it he was telling me that he had a lot of fun, and it wasn’t like what he was expecting it be (stiff and painful, hahaha). I really do believe I have such a knack for making people comfortable in front of the camera.

The greenhouse at East Pine Plant Shop is so cute. There was enough space for us to move around and get some different looks to their images. I’m really looking forward to being able to take some photos of my kids there in the gardens later this summer after they do their big renovations! The vision for this entire space and their mission is one I am so on board with!

I have so many favorite photos from this greenhouse photo session, that I had a hard time narrowing it down for the blog! So, here you have it – a bunch of photos of two people in love, with dreamy light, surrounded by plants. You can see a fun reel here with some behind the scenes video of us taking photos in the greenhouse! The best part is, after we finished taking photos we stepped into the plant shop to buy some cookies from my favorite local baker. Perfect way to end a photo session!

Stay tuned for my next greenhouse photo session here next month with one of my regular families! I can’t wait!

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.
