I’ve worked with Matt for the last few years now, and through that I’ve gotten to see Matt + Marissa’s journey to parenthood. They recently became parents for the first time to the sweetest little baby girl, and I absolutely LOVED being able to do their newborn photos at home for them, when she was just a few weeks old. Of course, first I just got to hang with them and snuggle a sweet sleeping baby before we started, and it filled my soul right up.
Of course, Arnie (their first baby) had to get in on some of the photo action as well! We did most of their photos in the nursery because it had such pretty light, and I love doing newborn photos at home in the space they specifically created for their new little life. It feels right to pay homage to the labor of love that it is to turn a blank room into a room for your child to grow in!
One of my favorite things about doing these newborn photos at home vs in a studio or something is because I really get to see the parents in their element. And Matt and Marissa? They are completely enamored with their sweet little babe. I really love being a part of documenting those feelings in those first few weeks after bringing home a baby, especially for the first time!
