It all started at Good Shepherd Preschool in a little town called Pearl River. It’s here where Alyssa + Brian met, and eventually (y’know, when they were much older) started a 17 year relationship that led them to their wedding at Fort Adams in Newport RI last fall.
When I asked Alyssa how the proposal took place, this is what she shared with me: “It was our 17 year anniversary. He brought me to brunch on the Hudson River, and told me that afterwards we would be taking the train into NYC for a Broadway Show and a day of surprises. He lied! After brunch, he proposed in the garden of the restaurant, overlooking the Hudson River. A limo then came out of nowhere, with all of our family and closest friends. Afterwards, a huge surprise party at my parent’s house, with all of our family and friends.”
They had picked out an antique ring together the year prior and Alyssa was convinced that Brian had lost it or forgotten all about it because it was never mentioned again. Brian pulled off the perfect proposal! I had the best time getting to know them at their engagement session, so that when I showed up on their wedding day it was like being with old friends all day.
And what a day it was! The wind was fierce, and it was funny how Alyssa was the most laid back person about it. She kept cracking jokes along the lines of “everyone is freaking out about the wind, shouldn’t that be my job?” Everyone was just so excited to be there that day, wind and all, because this day was almost two decades in the making. The speeches were phenomenal, the guests were lively, the band was awesome, and the party was truly a celebration of Alyssa + Brian.
It was an absolute honor and joy to be the one to photograph this wedding at Fort Adams! Check out some of my faves from the day!
