Newport RI Engagement Session

None of us are actually local to Newport RI. They live in New York. I live in Maine. But, Alyssa and Brian were planning to get married at Fort Adams in Newport RI, so on a day they were doing venue stuff, we met up for the first time for their engagement session! Alyssa and Brian have been together for 17 years, and had never had their photos professionally taken together before! I LOVE when I get to be someone’s first photography experience! They told me in the beginning they were nervous and uncomfortable, and by the end I was able to put them at ease in front of the camera 🙂

I loved hearing how it all started for them at preschool, and eventually they became high school sweethearts. When I asked them how the proposal took place this is what Alyssa said:

“It was our 17 year anniversary. He brought me to Brunch on the Hudson River, and told me that afterwards we would be taking the train into NYC for a Broadway Show and day of surprises. He lied! After brunch, he proposed in the garden of the restaurant, overlooking the Hudson River. A limo then came out of nowhere, with all of our family and closest friends. Afterwards, a huge surprise party at my parents house, with all of our family and friends.”

It was so clear to me during our engagement session how much these two love and care for each other. They know each other so well can make each other laugh at the drop of a hat. I loved getting to know these two during our Newport RI engagement session at Salve Regina University!

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
