There are very few people I would agree to work on my daughter’s birthday for. Mykayla and Sean are some of those people.
After changing all of their wedding plans due to COVID, they were married in 2020 and then finally got to have the celebration with their friends and family they’d been waiting for the following summer. Everyone gathered for their Union Bluff wedding in York, Maine at the end of July. It was hot, it was bright, and it was absolutely epic!
Union Bluff Meeting House is such a beautiful venue for a coastal Maine wedding. With views of the ocean, easy access to the beach, and plenty of space to celebrate with the people you love most, it was the perfect setting for Mykayla and Sean to finally have the wedding celebration they’d waited so long for.
There were so many amazing parts to this day.
A Joy-Filled Union Bluff Wedding Celebration
I loved seeing Sean and his groomsmen having the best time together while they were getting ready. It was truly non-stop laughter in that room.
Mykayla and her dad had a very emotional first look together, which was so sweet to witness. I loved meeting Sean’s mom for the first time. The vow renewal was beautiful, and Mykayla’s brother Spencer did a phenomenal job with the ceremony.
After everything these two had navigated to get to this day, there was such a deep sense of gratitude woven through every part of it. You could feel how much it meant to everyone to finally be together and celebrating.
Thoughtful Wedding Details Inspired by New Orleans and Maine
But I think the reception was my favorite part of their day. Sean is from New Orleans, so that inspired so much of the Union Bluff wedding decor and design. The reception paid tribute to both of their homes in a way that felt completely seamless, and it was flawless. It was clear that every single detail had been thought through with such care and intention while still staying true to who they are as a couple.
And the speeches!
I’ve photographed a lot of weddings, but I have never personally heard a toast as good as the one Bethany delivered. She gave a Hamilton-inspired toast that was absolutely incredible! And thankfully it was recorded. Hands down one of the best speeches I’ve ever witnessed – and I’ve witnessed a lot!
Aaron’s best man speech had everyone choked up. It was such a joy to hear the people closest to them share stories, memories, and their love for Mykayla and Sean.
A Reception Full of Energy and Celebration
I loved how emotional everyone became during the speeches and first dances. But mostly, I loved how excited everyone was to be there. After waiting so long for this celebration, nobody was taking a single moment for granted, and it showed.
The dance floor was an absolute blast to photograph, and I discovered that Sean can really dance. It felt like the reception perfectly captured the joy that everyone felt as they celebrated Mykayla and Sean’s marriage.
Before I left, I noticed all the cigars out on the patio and knew I had to try to create something fun with them. I’m so glad Sean trusted me and went along with what probably felt like a very strange idea in the moment because I absolutely love the photos we created together.

Between the ocean views, the coastal New England charm, and the ability to host both an intimate ceremony and an unforgettable reception, it’s a beautiful place to gather the people you love and celebrate your story.
Mykayla and Sean – thank you so much for trusting me with your day. It was an absolute honor to photograph your wedding not once, but twice. I love you both!!
