When planning engagement sessions, one of the first questions I’m asked is “what time should we plan for?!” So, I figured I’d put together a quick post about what times work best for engagement sessions to get beautiful images in gorgeous light!
During the winter months: 3-5pm is a good time frame to plan on. In the winter the sun sets much earlier and it’s obviously colder, so we want to be done before it gets dark + cold!
Spring time: The days start to get longer in the spring (yay!) so in April we’d probably start shooting between 5:30 and 7:30. In May the time would shift about a half hour forward!
Summer months: Ah! My favorite time of year to shoot! The weather is mostly pleasant, it’s warm, and the sun sets later so it’s a lot easier to plan our sessions so that it works with everyone’s schedule! You can plan on your engagement session starting around 6:30 or 7!
Fall: The daylight changes quite a bit in the fall, so in September we’d start around 5:30 or 6pm. October, around 5pm, and by the time November rolls around we’d be starting much earlier – around 3pm or so!
