One of the most common questions I’m asked when a potential bride reaches out to me about their wedding date is if I bring a second photographer with me. If it’s a full wedding day, the answer is always yes. For shorter days and elopements/intimate weddings I don’t bring along a second photographer unless that is something we add on!
Each of my wedding collections includes a second photographer and here’s why!
- Double the gear. I bring my own backup gear to a wedding, but it’s comforting to know that there’s a second person shooting with me who also has a full set of gear plus a backup. That way if anything crazy were to happen to both of my cameras, there’s still something to work with!
- Built in backup. If anything were to happen to me the morning of a wedding and I could not make it to your wedding (we’re talking EXTREME circumstances here) I have a built in backup who would be responsible for shooting the wedding. This would be a person I trust and know is 100% capable of photographing an entire wedding on their own with ease!
- Variety. Having a second photographer does not necessarily mean that you are going to be getting more images on your wedding day. I deliver roughly 100 images per hour. Sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on your day. However, having another person shooting can help add some variety to the types of images you’ll be receiving in terms of angles and composition!
- Support. By bringing another person with me, there’s more support in making sure I don’t forget anything, rounding people up for formals, and is also a great way to get groom prep portraits at the same time as the bridal prep portraits!
Well, there you have it! Four reasons why I love having a second photographer with me for a full wedding day! Also, writing this post has also made me realize that I’ve got to a better job of taking photos of my seconds at work! 🙂
