Three things you MUST have on your wedding website

I love that these days, when a couple is planning their wedding, there’s now usually a wedding website that’s shared with their friends and family! It really helps answer any questions guests may have! Also, it’s a great resource for all that important info! But with that being said, I wanted to share three things you must have on your wedding website.

Emily and Nick were married at Stone Mountain Arts Center. Click here to see more wedding images by Linda Barry Photography. Bride and groom portraits.
  1. Things to do. This one probably isn’t the most obvious one. If you have a significant number of guests traveling from out of town, OR your wedding is happening in a space you don’t live, it’s really nice and helpful to have a section on your wedding website about things to do in the area! This past summer we were guests at two different weddings. Each wedding was not in a place we were familiar with, so we were super appreciative of suggestions! This is especially helpful because guests will often come up the day before if they’re from out of town! That means there’s usually time to kill!
  2. Direct links to your wedding registry. There are SO many options these days for different types of wedding registries. I’ve been seeing a lot of registries where you can donate to a particular fund the couple has set up and that’s been pretty fun! Make sure, though, that there are direct links to your registry. Don’t make your guests go searching for the correct one 🙂
  3. Guest etiquette. Not all weddings are created equal! It’s important to make a note for the type of attire that should be expected. As a mom, I also find it super helpful when it’s listed about whether or not kids are allowed. I don’t particularly want to bring Lily to a wedding at this age, but as she gets older that might change. However, I feel awkward asking, haha, so it’s nice to have that info out in the open! 🙂
  4. Schedule for the weekend. Here’s a bonus! A lot of weddings now have turned into “wedding weekends” because so many people travel for them. So if you have events that ALL guests are welcome to attend, please put that right on your wedding website! That way everyone has the option of celebrating your weekend with you!

Well, it’s been a long time since I’ve been married, and I definitely don’t remember having a wedding website. So I hope that this post has been helpful to you as you put together your own wedding website for your guests!

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
