I’m a firm believer that if you have a positive experience somewhere, especially in a local business, you should share that experience with other people! So, that brings me to today’s blog post!
For my birthday, Steven got me a gift certificate to Sage Wellness in Portland, Maine, so that I could get a prenatal massage! Last week I was on vacation and between getting a haircut and a massage, I felt like I could take on the world!
I’ve never had a professional massage before, so I didn’t know what to expect. Walking into their space immediately put me at ease. There was relaxing music playing, there were directions about what to do if you were there for the first time (because sometimes there isn’t someone at the front desk due to being in sessions), tea + water available, and just an overall really pleasant atmosphere. I also really liked that I was able to book my massage online instead of having to call to make my appointment! They offer a variety of massage therapies, acupuncture, and yoga classes. Overall, a very cool place! 🙂
The prenatal massage itself was AMAZING. I felt so relaxed and so respected by the massage therapist. I definitely noticed a change in how I felt physically afterwards – a lot of junk that my body has been building up since getting pregnant was gone afterwards. Such a relief! I loved it so much that I really want to make going to get a massage a regular thing, whether it’s every few months or every few weeks! It can be an investment, but I felt like it was less than some other places and it was SO worth every penny!
Something I’m realizing in the past couple of years is that YOU have to take care of yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I used to feel guilty about the idea of doing things like getting a hair cut, or getting my nails done, and now getting a massage – but I realize that these are all important things to help ME feel good, and to take care of myself on so many levels! If we aren’t functioning at our best, then it’s going to be so hard to serve the ones around us!
