Location, Location, Location!

One of the key pieces to a photo session is the location.  It’s usually my second question, with the first being the date. To be honest, I love it when my clients already have a place picked out and ready to go, and when they’re honest with me and tell me they aren’t a fan of the place I picked out. When you have picked out a place that is special to you, it gives your photo an extra sentimental touch, and so much more meaning! Not to mention, I adore seeing new places and trying new things!

If you don’t have a location in mind, here are a couple of questions you should ask yourself:

-What kind of photos do you want? Romantic, fun, urban, innocent, moody, sexy? There’s many different feelings you can get from a photo, so narrowing down what you want to get out of it can help nail down the perfect location! Personalizing the location instantly adds chemistry to your photos — there’s already a story in place!

– Do you want your photos indoors or outdoors?

Some ideas for locations:

– a park

– sporting fields

– train station

– downtown

– beach

– fields

– barns

The sky is the limit when it comes to a location, and with your input, it helps create a magical session, with incredible, everlasting photos.

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
