Hampton Beach Proposal

This session was months in the making. I’ll never forget the day that Jack told me (while Krystle was in the shower) that he wanted to propose to my sister. Lemme tell you, that was one hard secret to keep for 6 months, but definitely worth the wait.

About four months later, they found out they were pregnant, which gave us the perfect reason to be taking photos so that I could also photograph Jack proposing to Krystle. It was a super cold day at the end of April, so for a Hampton Beach proposal to be ideal, we had to work QUICK. We started the time together focused on making announcement photos for them to announce their pregnancy. He owns Nagle Construction, so they had a onesie made with his logo so they could say they were adding a new crew member – sooo cute!!

Beforehand, Jack and I had talked about a few spots during the session where he could propose seamlessly. The whole session came and went and he didn’t do it at any of those points. I was starting to panic and was thinking “did he somehow forget?!” So I said, “Uh, well, we’ve gotten everything we need unless there’s something else you can think of you’d like for the announcement photos.”

And much to my relief, as we started walking back to our cars Jack said “actually, I’ve got something we can do.” To which he proceeded to propose. My sister was totally surprised and not expecting it and obviously she said YES! It was soooo sweet to be able to photograph this moment for them. And Jack was finally able to give her the gift of a custom leatherman with her soon to be new last name. Y’know, along with the beautiful ring he had made for her, using a diamond that belonged to his family.

Check out some more of my faves from this Hampton Beach proposal, along with some of their announcement photos 🙂

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.
