Today is my fifth day of the blog everyday in May challenge. The topic today is blogger devotion. For some reason, I had a hard time thinking of a blog that I follow enough to talk about, and then it hit me like a pillowcase full of bricks – Single Dad Laughing! I LOVE this blog, and I read it ALL the time. I can’t believe I didn’t think of it sooner, haha.

Single Dad Laughing is a blog written by Dan Pearce, and it absolutely rocks. The things he writes about are very much real, and opinionated, and he’s an excellent writer. I only wish I had a quarter of the blog talent that he does! What I love most about this blog is that the topics range on the emotional scale. There are some that are super funny, some that are serious, some that are sad, and some that are just plain honest. What’s even better is that he knows that not everyone is going to agree with him, but he respectfully acknowledges other opinions.

I have two favorite series of his – the truth box;

I love reading the truth box. It’s amazing to see how many people are struggling with the same thing, and how many people come together for support in the comments. It’s incredible, and can usually leave me in tears or with me trying to catch my breath from some of the things I read. It’s very powerful.

This one is hilarious. Most of these posts are super funny, and make me laugh out loud so hard at really inappropriate times. One time, I was reading this when I had a student staying after school to make up some work, and I just about died trying to keep my ridiculous smile under control.

If you ever need a breath of fresh air, this blog is where it’s at. Dan, I think you’re awesome for opening up your life in such a real way to SO many people around the world! Don’t ever stop – I don’t know what I’ll do!
