portland wedding + portrait photographer for joyful people

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

MY STORY

From high school chemistry teacher + weekend warrior to full time mama and photographer, my days look a lot different than they used to. Lily’s waking hours are when I wear my “mama” hat, and her sleeping hours are when I wear my small business owner hat.

Most days you can find me reading a book in my hammock, playing “Fancy Nancy + Bree” with Lily, singing to James, supplying what feels like an endless amount of snacks, or spending time outside or near the water.

One of my biggest fears is looking back on life when I’m 80 years old and finding myself wishing I had done more, and seen more. When it comes to my life, I often think “is this going to matter to me when I’m 80?” Thus, the simple and unconventional life was born :)

There just aren't enough words to describe how incredible Lily + James are to me!

I firmly believe that I would not be standing here today if it wasn't for my faith in God.

I'm turning into a plant lady. I don't know how it happened, but here we are.

The ocean will always hold a special place in my heart. I swear it has healing powers for the soul!

Photography fell into my lap.

how i got here

Being a photographer sort of fell into my lap 12 years ago. I loved taking photos of places and things, but people terrified me. One day a friend asked me to take her photos because she wanted to be a model - “they could turn out terrible” I warned her, and she didn’t care. She trusted me. And it was the most fun I’d had thus far with my camera. The next thing I knew people were also asking for their photos to be done, and then my first wedding inquiry came in, and it all just snowballed. It was never part of the plan to be a photographer.

If you had told me eight years ago that I’d soon be pregnant with the baby I’d been longing for, and diving into this business full time, I would’ve laughed in your face and said you were crazy.

But something I’ve learned since then, is that nothing is impossible. It’s about what you’re willing to do to make it happen. On every drive to a session or a wedding, I still think to myself “Is this actually my life?! I get to photograph these amazing people?!”

It’s a dream I never knew I wanted, and a dream I never intend to let burn out.

🌿 Simplifying
🌿 Organizing
🌿 Knowing where all the things are located
🌿 Teaching
🌿 Making food from scratch
🌿 Packing light for a beach day
🌿 Being a mom
🌿 Documenting my life regularly
🌿 Talking about Harry Potter
🌿 Dancing while I get dressed

(wait, did I just say that out loud?!), I’m also exceptionally skilled in the following areas:

not only am i an awesome photographer

... that I get to be a witness to some of the most important and special moments in someone else’s life. I get to prove to people that *anyone* can look good and feel comfortable in front of a camera. In fact, that’s what most of my clients talk about, is how easy it was for them to have their photo taken by them. Not only easy, but FUN.

On a wedding day I’m the photographer that guests come up to and say “You’re such an amazing photographer, and you’re doing such a great job!” But get this.. They say this before they even see a single photo. Crazy, right?

my favorite thing about this business is..

My mission is to make everyone feel respected, relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera, and I can’t wait to make that happen for you, friend. I want to give you the best photos that your future self will thank you for.
