As human beings, whenever we do anything, there is some reason behind it. Those reasons aren’t always good, sometimes they’re great, they can be intentional, and they might not.
When we run a business, we have to keep the WHY front and center. We all have a reason as to why we started our own business, and that reason sometimes gets lost as we grow. That’s a pretty big deal. The why behind what you do needs to be there in everything that you do. When you start making decisions without asking yourself why you’re doing it, and ensuring that you are still valuing your integrity and the reason you went into business, then your business will start to crumble. You’ll start to feel unfulfilled and you’ll chase the wrong things trying to find that fulfillment.
My why is this: I LOVE the feeling I get when I look at old photos, and the stories that they tell, and the new memories they create by looking through them with loved ones. I know that when I scrapbook, someday my kids will see these photo albums of their parents and all the adventures we’ll go on together. It’s priceless. I became a wedding photographer because I love giving people that opportunity to create memories. Capturing such a big day for so many people is amazing. Everything I do, I do it to serve my clients and love on them. When I stop loving on my clients and doing everything I can to better serve them, then I know I’ve lost my way.
Understand your why, and don’t ever forget it.
Also, someday I’ll be more eloquent when writing 🙂
