Scheduling E-mails | Workflow Tip

One of my goals this year is to set better boundaries so that I can continue working on a balance between work and personal life. One of the areas that I sometimes struggle in is with e-mails. I only try to check my e-mail in the morning and then again in the afternoon around 4pm or so. Some days I’m not so great with sticking with this.

I want to be better about the times of the day I’m e-mailing people because I don’t want them to think I’m available 24/7. So if I happen to check my e-mail at 9pm, and see something that I should respond to, I don’t want them to see me responding to an e-mail at 9pm because then it opens up a mindset of me being available that late at night.

I recently realized that through my e-mail with GoDaddy, I can actually SCHEDULE when I want my e-mails to send! This is SO great because then I can keep my business hours even if I happen to check late at night. I can see the e-mail, respond right away so I don’t forget about it, and then schedule it to go out at 8am the following day!

Such a great way to set boundaries AND still get your work done if you need to be working late some nights! With my e-mail provider, in the top right corner of my compose message box, this is how I would set the time for it to be sent out.

I don’t have any experience with gmail for scheduling e-mails but I have heard about a plug-in called Boomerang for g-mail that works really great for the same purpose!!

Scheduling e-mails is another way to be effective with your time and workflow and still set boundaries with your clients and with your own life!

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
