Portland, Maine Photographer :: It’s already October?!

DSC_4319

I took a break from the blog/facebook world last week, mainly because I am feeling run down and overwhelmed. Essentially, I just gave myself a break last week about everything. It’s been really tough since school started to maintain all of my “branches” (blog post on that to come!), and I’ve realized that I may be setting myself up for failure more times than I’d like to admit. It’s something I’m always working on! So, here is my monthly goals post!

September Goals:

Business:

  • Read “Getting Things Done” by David Allen
  • Watch the next two videos in the reSTART workshop.
  • Start brainstorming for Harry Potter. I’m realizing, though, that I may not get to it this year, which is kind of sad, but I’m still going to work to do it in October!
  • Continue to stay caught up on my photo challenge.
  • Rock at the four weddings this month.
  • Create a 2014 wedding guide.
  • Redo my website.
  • Have my contracts reviewed by a lawyer.

Personal:

  • Finish reading the Chamber of Secrets.
  • Finish Master Your Metabolism.
  • Exercise more often.
  • Do our photos 🙂
  • Create our wedding canvases.
  • Make at least three things from our 101 Things You Stop Buying and Start Making cookbook!

It was a rough month, and it flew by! I think the biggest reason why I haven’t been so successful with my goals is that I forget to check on them. It wasn’t until the last week of September that I realized I didn’t remember what my goals were for this month! That’s half the battle! I’m going to make more of an effort to check on my goals on a regular basis to remind myself of what I’m actually trying to accomplish.

OCTOBER goals:

Business:

  • Watch the next two videos in the reSTART workshop.
  • Read two chapters of “Getting Things Done”
  • Revamp my website (I decided that I liked it how it is, and just need to change a few minor things here and there!)
  • Get September monthly tasks completed.
  • Look into buying my own softbox and lightstand – and research wireless triggers for my specific flash.

Personal:

  • Keep the balance. Easier said than done, but I’ve started to be more firm with my boundaries, and I need to keep it up! It’s when that balance gets tipped that I start to feel really exhausted and overwhelmed.
  • Go on a date with Steven.
  • Read a chapter of Master Your Metabolism.
  • Read a chapter of Case for Faith.
  • Get back into reading the Bible again.
  • Drink two bottles of water, and lemon water, everyday!
  • Continue exercising.
  • Do calm yoga at least two mornings a week.

I feel like October is already half over, so I’ve gotta get moving! 🙂

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
