Portland, Maine Photographer :: Focusing on my heatlh

So, I’ve been talking quite a bit about how I have been focusing on my health and fitness this year, and I decided I wanted to do a short post about how it has impacted me.

About four or five months ago, I decided I was going to start really paying attention to what I am eating, and working out. I’ve been doing pretty darn well with what I’m eating, but my exercise can still use a lot of improvement. Living near a Trader Joe’s has made it much easier to eat well, because they do offer an incredible selection of organic foods at very affordable prices. They also just have a great store philosophy which is awesome, and makes me never want to live without one.

I am so pumped, though, that I have gotten to the point with exercising where I don’t feel guilty for not working out – I genuinely feel saddened by not getting the chance to do SOME sort of exercise at home because I love how I feel when I’m all done. I feel pretty fierce, not gonna lie.

Overall, I have seen so many changes since I’ve started these new habits in my life. The biggest one is that I have more energy. NOTHING makes me more excited than that. And I know it’s directly related to what I’ve been eating because if I go a few days without eating stuff that is good for me (and actually tastes very yummy), I start to feel really sluggish and tired again. Not fun. I also don’t feel nauseous anywhere near as much! My skin is better, and I just FEEL better all around.

What’s crazy is that I know it’s going to get SO much better as soon as I start focusing more on what is going in and on my body, and I can’t even wait for that 🙂

Basically, I have decided that I am okay with spending seventy dollars a week on food for me and Steven because it is literally what we need to survive. That is what we SHOULD be spending our money on. To me, at least. The same goes for exercise. That will help keep me healthy and alive, so there’s no reason not to make time – even if it is only ten minutes!

If I can do it, anyone can do it!!

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
