Portland, Maine Photographer :: 10 things that lead to happiness

Day 14 –  Ten things that make you really happy

For once, this is a super easy blog post! I’m generally a pretty happy person, so to actually point out things that make me happy is sort of exciting!

#1. Flowers. I really like getting flowers, especially for no reason! It’s kind of weird, but I also really like how dead flowers look 😡 There’s just something about them! I’d much rather have alive flowers, though.

#2. Sleeping in until 8am. It just feels so nice! I get to sleep in past my normal time, but still get enough sleep to go to bed a little later the night before. And, it doesn’t totally destroy any chance of productivity during the day! Triple win!

#3. Harry Potter. I LOVE Harry Potter. I can’t wait to re-read the whole series again this summer! I grew up with Harry Potter, and it’s like I’m best friends with all the characters. I was so sad when it “ended.”

#4. Cuddling with the mister. There’s nothing I’d rather do than just lay in bed or lay on the couch with the mister and snuggle up. Even if we’re just watching a movie, or talking, it’s the best feeling in the world.

#5. Speaking of best feelings in the world – being married to the mister. I can’t imagine spending my life with anyone else, and I couldn’t ask for a more loving, caring, and impossible man to call my husband 🙂

#6. I really love this photo of me and Steven – and homemade gifts. This is one of my favorites of me and Steven. It was taken just a month and a half before our wedding, at a friend’s wedding! My sister-in-law and mother-in-law made us this candle for Christmas, and when we turn the candle on, it lights up our photos. Heart. Melted.

#7. Food in the house. I feel so fortunate to be able to put food in the cupboards and in the fridge. I feel incredibly blessed that it’s not something we have to worry about at this time in our life, and that we can spend a little extra on the organic stuff.

#8. Cooking. I really really love making homemade meals! These cookbooks never disappoint me, and give me everything I need to know about cooking! And there’s always Pinterest too 🙂

#9. Yoga. Yoga really helps my back. It’s so fabulous. It also leaves me feeling so relaxed and good about my body after I’ve done it. It really is the best medicine.

#10. Being passionate. Nothing makes me happier than when I get really excited about something – like a beautiful photo, a new book, a student understanding something in class, or researching how to create an awesome garden. Being passionate in different areas is what keeps me alive, and keeps me going!

What about you? What are some things that make YOU happy?

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
