What Pregnancy Means to Me

What pregnancy means to me –

  • It means being exhausted for four weeks straight and not understanding why.
  • It means getting frustrated when people ask if you’re pregnant, when clearly we haven’t been successful for the past 3.5 years, so why would we be now without medicine?
  • It means going from being exhausted to being so sick, and often times both.
  • It means being absolutely surprised (and borderline angry) because we stopped seeing Boston IVF in September.
  • It means crying a LOT in doctor’s offices.
  • It means overwhelming relief to hear the baby’s heartbeat for the first time at 12 weeks.
  • It means grinning like the happiest lady in the world to see a little human bouncing around on the big screen.
  • It means having a husband feed me saltines and sips of ginger ale and water when I wake up sick in the middle of the night.
  • It means crying a lot in general.
  • It means eating more grilled cheese sandwiches in the past five weeks than in the past five years.
  • It means having eyes WAY bigger than my stomach.
  • It means having this one spot in my back that always hurts.
  • It means waking up in the middle of the night and having an internal debate about whether or not to get up and pee, or wait until the next time I wake up.
  • It means having a really short temper sometimes.
  • It means finally gaining weight after struggling for years to do so.
  • It means being so happy I could cry. And I probably will.
  • It means text messages from my mother and mother-in-law almost on a daily basis, and it’s adorable.
  • It means not finding out the sex because it’s one of the few true surprises in life.
  • It means finally pursuing my ultimate dream of being a full time photographer and stay-at-home mom.

On December 8th, 2015, our world shifted in a BIG way.

On July 27th, 2016, our world is going to shift again.

Today, we celebrate 5 years as a couple. We celebrate the last anniversary we will have as just husband and wife! I could not be happier or more terrified for what’s in store for us.

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
