Spring Color Film Scans

I shared a post recently that included the black and white film scans from my first roll of film I ever shot back in 2015. Getting those scans back from PhotoVision totally had me so excited to try again. I’m thankful that my friend Kat let me borrow her film camera, and I went off to Hunt’s to get some rolls of color film! I was excited to play around and see the difference between color and black and white! Well, I recently got my Spring color film scans back and I LOVE them!

I’m definitely not in any position to be a film photographer on a professional capacity right now, but I sure am loving playing around with it! It took me a while to fill three rolls of film, because I loved savoring it. I didn’t want to shoot off an entire roll of film in one sitting because I wanted it to last.

Shooting with film has been really cool because it does force me to really slow down and think about the lighting and my composition before I take a photo. Plus, the manual focusing definitely slows me down and is a smidge more challenging when I’m trying to focus on a toddler! Bless her heart though, she LOVED playing with the light meter and pretended it was her own camera. She did a pretty good job sitting still for me sometimes to get a photo!

I love these photos, and yes the first one I turned into b+w because the color was so wonky and I’m not sure why, but I loved the photo. Some of these photos have soft focus (or are completely out of focus), but I still love the essence. I hope that one day Lily looks back on these photos with fondness like I do with my own childhood photos. I’m not sure what it is about film, but gosh does it take you to another place emotionally! Well, I hope you’ll enjoy my Spring color film scans as much as I did! I wanted to share a few of my favorites today!

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.
