I know I can’t be the only mom out there who has HUNDREDS of photos of their children on their phone, but they LIVE there. I keep a lot of photos of Lily and my family private, so I don’t share my phone photos on social media. I always think it’s such a pain in the butt to plug it into my computer and then upload, and THEN try to remember to print them, so these photos collect virtual dust.
So, I started doing something new and it’s SO easy and affordable (maybe not in the beginning if you’re playing catch up like me!). At the end of 2016 I used Chatbooks to make a custom book of over 300 photos from my Instagram account that year. It was so easy and I love to look back on it. But, I knew that wouldn’t work anymore because I don’t share all my phone photos on social media.
Therefore, I created a private family account on Instagram, where no one is following me and I’m not following anyone. It’s simply used as a means to upload family photos on my phone so that they can be printed. I have Chatbooks linked to that private account, so that whenever I upload 60 more photos, it creates it into a photo book ($10 for a soft cover book!) and then sends it to me! I don’t have to think about it!
So far, I have five, and I probably have about 10 more to go before I’m all caught up. Once I’m caught up, it’s going to be even MORE simple, and take less time. It’ll also have longer time frames in between books which is nice for the budget!
You can ALSO use Chatbooks on your desktop, and you don’t have to use Instagram either! You can set up Chatbooks so that it’s linked to a folder of photos on your phone to be printed every 60 which is also really nice and much simpler! I wanted to have Instagram so I could write little notes on some of them that would also be printed with the photos. If you wanted to just print a book from your photos folder, you can create a custom book with all the photos in one!
There are so many ways you can use Chatbooks to get those photos OFF your phone and printed for easy viewing! Lily loves taking our books off the shelf and looking through them! They’re the perfect little size for her 🙂 I hope this helped give some insight as to how I organize my phone photos and make sure that they’re actually getting printed. We take photos with our phone for a reason, now let’s actually get those photos off of there so we can sit and look through them together. I know that there are other services that are similar to Chatbooks, but this is the only one that I have experience with 🙂
