Photo of the Day – February

I shared last month a new photo project I’m working on, and I’m pretty excited about it. It’s a photo-a-day project and it’s SO crazy to see the difference in this project compared to the first time I did this ten years ago! each month I’m sharing the recap of photos, and so here is February’s photo of the day series!

Now, one of the days I was really sick and didn’t leave my bed (Lily was with her grandparents) for about 36 hours, so I didn’t get a photo. But I figure February is a leap month, so missing a day doesn’t set me back too far!

If you missed last month’s series, click HERE!

// I got a breadmaker from Steven for Christmas about five years ago, and for the longest time I hated it. Nothing ever came out right, but then I discovered the secret sauce to loving your breadmaker and I became hooked! However, I mostly use it for making dough. So, I finally decided to make a loaf of bread and loved it!

// I got to take photos of my friend Sarah! She needed some head shots for a dance audition, and we had the best time!

// Lily and I went for a walk by the river and brought home a bunch of pinecones for her to paint.

// Lily loves helping her daddy with projects. With this project they were adding foam to his creeper for working on the cars so it’s more comfortable.

// Lily completed her “1000 books before kindergarten” at the library, and got to choose a brand new book to bring home!

// Upon cleaning out my craft bin, I came across this old ruler of mine that also has stencils in it. Lily started playing with it and became obsessed! This was the first time she was used it and she was SO proud of herself when she used it. “Look mama! I DID IT!!”

// Oh this sweet girl! I got five boxes of girl scout cookies today and had so much fun taking this photo with Lily.

// The first time I went over to Sarah’s house, I told her “If I were single, this is exactly how my house would look I think.” haha. This wall hanging of hers is so freaking cool and I love it.

// Once upon a time I used to be against crockpots. I thought they were silly, and then I got one at a yankee swap years and years ago and then I understood. I LOVE my crockpot, especially during the winter!

// Lily wants to be just like her daddy all the time. She loves grabbing her “computer” and sitting next to him while they work.

// Lily’s reaction after hitting a ping pong ball for the first time! It was the sweetest!

// Growing up, whenever we would visit my grandparents in Baltimore my grandfather would show us his latest wood projects. He had a lot of these wood carvings all over his house! When my mom helped him move into a new space this past year, she asked if there was anything I wanted, and I said I’d love to have some wood carvings. After months of holding on to these in my room, I finally hung them up, and I did it 98% on my own! I had to have Steven help with the middle one because it ended up being a stud, and I needed a screw and a drill, haha.

// Lily and I have been playing a lot with her dollhouse lately!

// Steven loves working with Lily on flashcards and Lily participates so well!

// I got to see two of my college best friends today! Katie’s daughter, Evelyn, just turned one and it was nice to get to see each other at her party!

// We finally got to experience Boston Burger Co.! It was so yummy, and Steven’s milkshake was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.

// Krystle came down for a little girls day! We took the train into Boston and ate at this place called Trident Booksellers and Cafe! It was like a dream for me, food and a bookstore?! It doesn’t get any better! I got over my fear of being judged and feeling awkward and set up the camera on a stack of books with a timer.

// Steven came home with a bamboo plant from the gym. I still have no idea how to take care of it, but it hasn’t died yet, so there’s that.

// I picked Lily up from her grandparents today! We had the best time eating at Clayton’s with my best friend Jenn and then hitting up Willard Beach! I LOVE this photo 🙂

// I had taught a lesson on colors that morning with VIPKID, and there was a slide with basil and cherry tomatoes, and all of a sudden I really wanted one pot pasta. I made it for dinner this night and it was SO satsifying!

// I tried sushi (vegetarian) today for the first time today and it was definitely a hit!!

// It was super nice out again, so we played with chalk and Lily was pretending to “hide” behind me and then pop out and “scare” me. It was pretty adorable.

// It was almost 60 degrees so we went to the zoo! Lily had the best time!

// Sometimes Lily takes a shower with me and she has the most fun ever each time. It’s so sweet.

// We got our new family photo books in the mail today. I loved looking through them with Lily! I’m officially all caught up with all photo projects and I almost don’t know what to do with myself.

// We built a city with blocks today!

// I’ve had this succulent for almost 2.5 years now, and it’s grown so much! I hope it continues to thrive! It’s one of my favorite plants I own.

// I love watching Lily playing with her jungle animals! 🙂

Well, there you have it! February’s photo a day series! I hope you’ll come back next month for the next installment!

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.
