You all know how much I LOVE and swear by the PowerSheets. They’ve been a huge game changer in how I set goals for each coming year (or heck, for each coming season! there’s so much flexibility to make them exactly what you need them to be!) that I no longer even set “resolutions” for the new year. I feel that more often than not those goals we set at the start of a new year are often made willy-nilly with no real thought process behind them.
My timehop showed me my resolutions for 2013, and I literally laughed to myself because I know for a fact that those were all set based on what others were doing, and what I thought I *should* be doing. Most of those goals I did not meet, and they were all absolutely arbitrary. But the PowerSheets? I dig deep and they are more than goals, they’re about what I want my LIFE to be like.
This year as I worked through the PowerSheets prep, and closed out my 2018 PowerSheets, I noticed that this year was far more introspective than in the past. As I worked through page after page, I just kept coming back to the idea of transformation, or foundation, or rebuilding. 2018 felt very much like a survival year for me. So much changed for us that I was just trying to keep up. But I knew that I wanted to go back and start digging into the habits and mindsets I want to have in my own life. I was really thinking transform, but then I saw that a related word for transform was “renew” and I knew right away that was the word for me this year!
RENEW.
I want to renew so many areas of my life. I don’t want to be surviving, I want to thrive, but I also want to thrive confidently in who I am. A lot of things fell by the wayside for me last year, and I want to see major changes in 2019! While I won’t share all of my goals with you, I’d love to share a few that I feel comfortable sharing, along with the mini goals that will help me reach the big picture!
I want to renew my personal health.
-
- Prioritize sleep.
- Self care at home (such as facials, baths, reading, etc.)
- Meal prepping
- Finding an extracurricular hobby (like, what is that?! haha)
- Read “Body Love” by Kelly Leveque.
I want to renew my desire to grow in my faith.
-
- Go to church regularly on the Sundays I’m home.
- Write the word wednesdays.
- “Next Steps” class at church.
- Find a devotional that I can connect with.
Be good stewards of our finances.
-
-
- Finding a local organization to donate to quarterly.
- Donate a percentage of business profits to “Read to a Child.”
- Build up our emergency fund again.
- Don’t accumulate new debt.
-
I want to renew my “make your own” lifestyle.
-
- Finishing up the quilt I started in 2018 – can’t wait to share it when it’s done! It’s going to be beautiful!
- Buy a book on canning (I got a pressure canner for christmas!)
- Plan out the veggie garden and start seedlings early.
I only ended up with seven goals this year, and I’m realizing now that two of them actually should be combined, haha. But the three I didn’t share feel very personal to me, so I’m holding those close 🙂 If you have some goals you’d like to share, I’d love to hear about them!
