This year marked the start of my THIRD year of teaching. How crazy is that?! To think I’ve had a career for a third year in a row makes me feel weirdly too grown up. Regardless, this year was special for a couple of different reasons: I didn’t have to find a new job; when I came back to school this year students knew who I was, which is such a nice feeling to have someone say “Hi Mrs. Barium” each time they see me after having chemistry last year; I painted my classroom and it rocks (it’s not perfect, but it rocks!); and I just have this weird sense of calmness about teaching this year.
I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, but it hasn’t. I don’t think it will. It’s nice. I’m not completely overwhelmed and frazzled like I was last year. I have more confidence in what I’m teaching and I’m doing less prep and more grading. Hallelujah!
It just feels nice. So much so, I think I’ll teach for a few more years! 🙂
I wanted to share some photos of my classroom this year! I painted my classroom on the last day of school last year and did some rearranging and additions this year 🙂 It feels SO much better! It’s nice to have a classroom to call my own.

I was at Target when I found these corkboards. I have since added personal photos of Steven and I and plan to add more! I also bought these designer push pins. This is why I don’t go shopping.

My mother-in-law got me this for Christmas one year. It’s turned out to be the best thing ever. This is where I put all my folders of work I need to grade.

I LOVE this little corner in my classroom. It’s the perfect space for me and my desk! People can’t tell I’m in here until they walk around my demo desk. It’s great.

My bin for physical science as I test out Mass Customized Learning this year!
