I recently made a pretty lofty goal to not buy anymore books. Craziness, right?! I mentioned to my husband the other night that I didn’t want any books for Christmas and his was response was “you really don’t want any books?” I could just hear the disbelief flowing out of him. Of course I want books. I ALWAYS want books. However, since I made a list of all the books that I currently own that I have NOT yet read, I decided I should work on those first and just get books from the library from here on out (I have a wish list on Amazon that I use to remind myself of the books I want to read!).
When I was a little girl, I’d leave the Bangor Public Library with as many books as I could possibly hold in my arms. I miss that. A friend and I got library cards at the end of the summer, and it was fantastic! I got four books the first go around and realized in the future I should only get one at a time 😉 Well, without further ado…
THE CASUAL VACANCY by JK Rowling | Anyone who knows me knows that I am OBSESSED with Harry Potter. I just can’t get enough! So I was really curious about this book she wrote for adults. Her style of writing is very different in this book. I had heard a lot of mixed reviews, so I wanted to see for myself what it was all about. It was really difficult to get into, and took me a while to read it. Thankfully the last couple hundred pages were much better but then the very last sentence was SO confusing. So there’s that.
THE PURCHASE by Linda Spalding | I had high hopes for this book – it seemed like it would be really good. It wasn’t anything special and there wasn’t really a story that existed so I was kind of bummed about this one.
PERFECT TOUCH by Elizabeth Lowell | Oh. My. Gosh. I LOVED this book! I think I read most of it in one day, I just couldn’t put it down! I have never read any of her books and I definitely want to try more of them! This book was an incredible murder mystery with a romance thrown in there. Seriously, really good. Highly recommend this one!
SING YOU HOME by Jodi Picoult | Funny story, I borrowed this book from the library only to realize after I had read it that I bought the book a while back and had forgotten about it! Jodi Picoult is hands down my favorite author! This book was not what I thought it was going to be about, and it really resonated with me as the main character was struggling with infertility. If you’ve never read any books by this author, definitely snag one today and read!!
