I’ve been in business for a little over a year now, and I have learned SO much along the way. One of the biggest lessons I have learned is what it means to create a brand for your business, and how incredibly important it is. When I think of my brand, I think of three things: style, personality, and cohesiveness. Your brand is how your business is represented to the rest of the world.
*I am not an expert in this. These are just the three things that I have found to be important along the way.
#1. Style
I think that when a photographer establishes their brand, they do so by exhibiting their style consistently throughout their photos. The idea is that when someone was to look at your photo, they would know who took it without looking at the photo credit.
#2. Personality
YOU are your brand. YOU are your business. Everything you do represents your business and therefore represents your brand. Therefore, the way you act (which I would hope is always professional) is associated with your business 100% of the time. Clients should come to your website and be able to determine if they like you, or don’t like you. If they like you, great! If not, that’s okay too! But letting YOU shine through your brand will benefit you business because you will be attracting your ideal clients, who truly love what you have to offer.
#3. Cohesiveness
I’m pretty sure that the first thing on everyone’s mind when they hear the word brand is a logo and color scheme. This alone is not your brand, however, it is very important to your brand in my opinion. It is important to have a cohesive look to your business. So that means having the same logo and colors throughout your online presence and any paper products you have for your business. This supports your brand because now clients can associate your logo with the rest of your brand. So, although I think this is super important to have, I do not consider just the colors and logo the brand for your business.
