Lily is THREE!

Today is one of the greatest days in history. Today, my sweet, intelligent, hilarious, beautiful daughter is THREE years old! I can still remember the day she was born and the labor leading up to it so vividly. I hope that never changes.

It’s hard not to be sad about how much she’s grown, and how much she’s turning into a little girl. But sometimes, I really stop and look at her and her features, and I’m struck not only by her beauty, but also just at how small she still is. She may be a toddler, but she’s still a very little girl who needs her mama and to me, she’ll always be my baby.

They say a lot of rapid growth happens a LOT in the first year, but I also think that going from 2 to 3 has brought SO much growth!

In the past year:

  • Lily’s language skills have exploded. She says the most hilarious things now, and also asks the most amazing questions. I love hearing her make up songs and stories and playing with her stuffed animals. Her imagination is just out of this world!
  • She’s daytime potty trained, and we are SO happy about that! She’s done SO well!
  • Her hair is so long and curly now!
  • She’s mastered the art of riding her bike and she loves nothing more than riding it all around the house.
  • Her BFF is Xen, and they both play so well together! It melts my heart!
  • She’s learning new signs on a regular basis.
  • She can *almost* count to 20! She skips 14 and 15. And she *almost* has the entire ABCs down! She skips over QRS, hahah.
  • She’s in a toddler bed that used to be her daddy’s and she handled that transition like a champ!
  • One of her favorite things to do is help mommy fill up the diffuser with essential oils.
  • She’s getting pretty good at yoga and has shown a lot of interest in climbing! She’s getting pretty good at bouldering, y’know, on the days she doesn’t have “the fear.” haha.
  • She’s obsessed with reading.
  • Lily has a growing love for animals, and she’s had so much fun getting to meet animals in real life!

I could go on and on, but for now, I’ll just leave you with some photos over the past three years that show how much she’s grown!

Lily, happy birthday my sweet girl! Mommy and daddy love you SO much, there will never be enough words. Thanks for making us parents and teaching us so much about life, love, and joy. <3 <3

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.
