I like to be prepared. When I got married, my best friend pretty much planned my wedding for me and officiated our ceremony. When she showed up that weekend she showed me the wedding emergency kit she had in her trunk and I thought “This is brilliant!” My first year shooting weddings there were several occasions where I wished I had something that I could give to the person in need, so this past year I went out and created my own emergency wedding kit, and let me tell you, it has definitely come in handy! Especially those safety pins! The snacks also were really helpful for Becky and I if we got hungry during a wedding day and had forgotten to bring something.
So, here we go! The list!
- Pen and paper
- Breath mints
- Granola bars
- Packing tape
- Duct tape
- Double A batteries
- Outlet splitter thing – this is especially handy in a hotel room where everyone is trying to plug something in and there isn’t enough outlets!
- Sunscreen
- Bug spray
- Hair spray
- Lint roller
- Static guard
- Wrinkle remover
- Bleach pen
- Tide pen
- Anything you could need for feminine issues
- Face wipes
- Makeup remover
- Razors
- Lotion
- Hand sanitizer
- Eye drops
- Tums
- Q-Tips
- Floss
- Deoderant
- Bandaids
- Advil
- Ibuprofen
- Little emergency kit
- Nail clippers
- Nail file
- Small sewing kit
- Safety pins
- Combs
- Elastics
- Bobby Pins
- Clear nail polish
- Tissues!
I store it all in a plastic tote and a smaller plastic container and leave it in the car and grab things as needed! It’s great to hear someone say “you’re a lifesaver” when you can crack this baby open on a wedding day! 🙂
Next year I want to add a package of 10 wooden hangers for bridesmaids dresses, as well as clear umbrellas for those times it might be rainy!
