DIY: Canvases! {Portland, Maine Photographer}

A few months ago, I got this great idea for what to finally do with the space that is above our bed. I’m always telling the mister that I wish we had more photos of us up, and so I decided I was finally going to make it happen! I got some frames for some prints that I know we will change out over the years, but I also really wanted a couple of canvases of our wedding photos. I figured out that I will get a canvas for every major event in our life (and naturally we’ll have a house as life goes on with more wall space). However, canvas prints are expensive. Also, I really like to make things myself, so I made some canvases myself! There are a ton of tutorials all over the internet, and it is seriously so simple to make your own canvas-like prints.

Materials:

  • Mod podge
  • Stretched canvas
  • Prints
  • Foam brushes

Step #1: Put a layer of the mod podge onto the canvas.

Step #2: Place your print on top of the canvas and press it down onto the mod podge. 2013-10-27_0004

Step #3: Put a very THIN layer of mod podge over the top of your print, and on the edges of the canvas. It will look a little white at first, but it dries clear as long as you put a thin enough layer down.

Step #4: Wait for it to fully dry, and then hang it on your wall! 🙂

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
