I’ve had a couple of these posts now, and since we’ve moved yet again, I feel like it’s probably a good time to share our new space! Now, I don’t have an actual office. I have a corner of our living room. I’ve never really had an actual office and I’m totally okay with that! I LOVE keeping things simple and as minimal as possible so that I don’t end up with a ton of clutter!
One of the biggest adjustments about moving, wasn’t actually the moving part. It was going back to an apartment after living in our own home for the last 2.5 years, and now we have roommates (whom we love and adore!). So, we have to be really aware and conscientious of our space now! I’m grateful though to have this little space in our living room 🙂 Everything in these pictures are things we already had with us (except for the new lamp! I needed SOMEthing for light that wasn’t the overhead light). I also did buy a new plant and a wind chime 🙂 They make me so so happy!
Okay, here we go!
This plant sits over by the window and I LOVE it!! I ended up buying a fern for our bedroom shortly after this! I’ll probably keep adding more, haha.
Does this desk look familiar?! This was the desk we had BEFORE Steven built our floating desk in our house in Portland. I hated it then, and for some reason we ended up keeping it in the basement instead of getting rid of it. Well, this is probably the one time I’m glad we kept something, because we bought it off a friend for $20 when we moved to Portland 6 years ago, and it’s moved with us several times! I think the reason it actually works well now is because it’s not in a corner. In the last space it was in a corner so accessing the shelves on the right was SUPER hard and annoying. Also, we put the tower for the computer monitor on the floor now, so it doesn’t feel as cluttered. The shelf holds my business + finance binders, booking gift supplies, and a box that holds all of my thank you notes from my clients since I no longer have a mounted ribbon board. I still have the same “inbox” for all the physical receipts and papers I collect throughout the month for my business!
I got this lamp off of Amazon and it’s perfect!! And now I can add some personal touches to it, like some photos of me, Steven and Lily! I’ve also had these succulents for a while now! They’re starting to struggle, but I’m not giving up on them yet!
I got a wind chime from Salt Hippy to go outside, and I loved it so much I wanted to get another one for INside! Makes me feel close to the ocean again 🙂
Some of my favorite “life-giving” books I’ve read!Â
These three drawers still hold all the same things as it did back in Portland – mailing supplies, hard drives, card readers, etc. It’s worked out so well for me this past year and a half! This basket is still one of my favorite things, and since we are in an apartment now we didn’t mount it, but it’s working out really well just sitting on top of these drawers. The things in the corner are for Steven’s sewing stuff 🙂Â
There you have it! A super simple, but efficient workspace for apartment living! What is your office space like?!
