I am the QUEEN of having all of these great ideas of things I want to get done over the summer, but then during the last two weeks of summer, I realize that not only did I have a super lazy summer, but I didn’t get anything done that I had hoped to! Here is a list of five ways to have an awesome summer, that includes getting your summer projects done!
#1. Unplug.
Seriously. Turn off the TV, get off facebook, and go DO something. Last summer I had a problem with just laying around and watching TV, because I deserved it. You deserve it too, but at the end of your summer, you’ll realize you wasted a lot of opportune time!
#2. Plan things with your friends and family.
Go on a trip together, whether it is someplace new, or just down the road to a campground. Just do something together 🙂 No one ever regrets a trip with friends or family, because it is sure to be a lot of fun! Unless your friends aren’t awesome, then you have my sympathy :p
#3. Stay active.
Finding a sport or hobby that keeps you moving will most likely help keep you energized and positive throughout the summer! I plan to keep going to yoga classes, and climb outdoors this summer. And running! I’m going to take up running.
#4. Don’t set unrealistic goals for yourself.
I am the master of creating this big long list of things I want to get done over the summer. In reality, there is no way I can get it all done because there simply is not enough time. Do the projects you’ve been wanting to do for a long time first because those will bring a lot of relief when they are done! One way to help with this is to set one big project for each month.
#5. Go to the beach.
If you’re a beachgoer, there is nothing more relaxing than going to the beach and laying out with a good book. I am so excited to do this more this summer!
BONUS:
#6. Explore your town!
There is still a lot to Portland that I haven’t seen yet. It is a lot of fun to be a tourist in your own town/city and find new things! I’m looking forward to trying more local restaurants 🙂
Most of all, just keep living life this summer. Go with the flow and do what feels right. Have fun! It’s going to be here before you know it!
