Steven,
Can you believe today marks EIGHT years of being married? To be honest, last week I almost forgot that our eighth wedding anniversary was coming up. It’s such a short amount of time, but at the same time it feels like a lifetime already, in the best way possible.
The other day I was looking at my wedding band and made a mental note about how it was getting scuffed up and looks like it could be on its way to needing to be “dipped”. I think that’s what they call it, haha. But I couldn’t help but reflect on how my wedding band is kind of like our marriage.
On the day we became husband and wife, it was shiny and new, not a single scratch on it. But over time, it’s gotten weathered and banged up. But it’s still solid. No sign of breaking down or falling apart.
We, too, have been weathered over time. We’ve gone through some really hard stuff over the years, but like my wedding band, we’re still strong. We’ll forever be strong enough to withstand the elements. It doesn’t matter how scuffed up we get, we still choose to love and honor each other each and every day.
Over the years we’ve had countless adventures, moved what feels like a zillion times, numerous road trips, moments where we’ve needed to hug it out while in the grocery store, and definitely more laugh wrinkles than when we were 21 years old.
Thank you for being the peanut butter to my oreo.
Thank you for choosing parenthood with me as we raise the most amazing little girl.
I love you more today than I do eight years ago. I look forward to so many things in our future, but I also LOVE where we are right now. I love experiencing the everyday with you! I’m forever grateful and honored to be your wife!
Happy 8th anniversary, my love!
