My busy season starts in about 5 or 6 weeks, and I am SO excited!! However, I’m currently in a major focus mode to make sure that I’m as ready as I can possibly be for the season to start! I have a lot of big changes happening this year, so it’s even more important to me now to make sure that everything is in order while I still have the time! Here are some tips to help you get ready for your busy season!

Organize + Simplify your office space.
Since we got our house, my office space decreased by about half. I’m SO okay with this! It is actually nice to have everything a little more compact! A couple of weeks ago I went through EVERYTHING I had in my office space and got rid of things I wasn’t using/didn’t need and just re-organized. It feels so much better! I simplified my office area last year and it was great! But I think it’s important to do it on a regular basis because we have a tendency to accumulate things! Having all of this stuff cleaned before my busy season really makes a difference for me! I can’t be effective in a cluttered area! Also, make sure you have enough office supplies to last you for a while!

Reflect.
Most of us make goals about things we want to accomplish in our slow season. Dig out those goals and see what’s left on your list! Use this time that you have now where you aren’t slammed with photography clients (or any type of client, depending on your industry!) to make it through these goals. After all, you made them for a reason!

Take inventory.
Take a good hard look at all your gear, your memory cards, and batteries. Make sure everything is in good shape and that you still have plenty of memory cards that are in good condition for this year! It’s the worst to realize that you don’t have enough cards and end up paying more for them because you can’t wait for the better priced ones in the mail! Also batteries are SO crucial for photographers. Make sure you have enough! Also, this is a good time to think about what kind of gear you need to invest in for this coming year! This also includes hard drives for photo storage!

Go through your client experience.
See if there are any areas that you can improve for this year to ensure that you are always giving the best experience you possibly can! I just recently re-did my entire studio management system, and while it was A LOT of work, I know it’s going to create a better experience for my current and future couples!

Get inspired.
Go to workshops, watch webinars, read books, or go outside! Get inspired and in a good frame of mind to start this season off great!!
