Frequently Asked Questions | Weddings

I really like to set people up for success. And part of that is equipping them with the information and skills they need! Well, one way that I like to do this in my business is to give information to my brides before they ask for it, so that they always have what they need!

Today, I’d like to share some frequently asked questions that I get!

  1. How many photos do I get? Weddings typically yield 75 photos an hour, but each day is unique, like you! I don’t put a specific number to images delivered, and make sure to get you the best of the best of your images!
  2. Are you available for travel? Yes! I absolutely adore seeing new locations with new people! One of my dreams is to shoot a wedding in every state! Any destinations that require any flying or significant driving will require a little more consideration for a quote. Just know that my job is not to turn your wedding into my vacation – therefore I don’t need any fancy hotels or transportation!
  3. What is it like to be photographed by you? One of the reasons I love photographing weddings so much is that I’m in control of very little of the day. I get to have a photo-journalistic approach by capturing things as they unfold organically. When it comes to engagement sessions and portrait time on the wedding day, I provide a lot of guidance in terms of what to do. The level at which I do that depends on how you feel! Some people want me to tell them exactly what to do, and others don’t need me and I just photograph them as they are. Either way, I create beautiful images that are joyful and reflect who you are at this time in your life!
  4. How do I book you for our date? I’m so glad you asked! After we’ve made contact and you’re ready to book, I’ll send a contract to be read and signed, and your invoice. A retainer will be required to secure your date. Everything is done digitally with a safe and secure studio management system. Check + major credit cards are accepted!
  5. Do I have to pay for it all at the same time? Nope. Once the retainer has been paid, the only required payments are three months and one month prior to your date. A lot of my couples will often pay as they go so that they can chip away at the balance and get reward points for their payments.
  6. How do I receive my photos? I have a four week turnaround for wedding photos. I deliver the photos digitally using an online gallery (the same place you’ll sign your contract and pay your invoice! super convenient!). It’s a very simple way to share the high-resolution images with friends, family, social media, and to order prints.
  7. What do your collections include? All regular wedding collections (6, 8, or 10 hours) include the time, a second photographer and the final high resolution images in an online gallery. For more information, shoot me an e-mail to get the pricing guide 🙂
  8. How many weddings have you photographed? Going into my sixth year of shooting weddings, I’ve photographed roughly 80 weddings thus far.
  9. What if you haven’t shot at our venue before? This is my favorite thing! I love the opportunity to flex my creative muscles in new places. If it’s a place that is local to me, I’ll try to check it out (maybe with you!) before the wedding day, but if not, I always arrive on the wedding day early to scope it out so that I can be prepared for our photo time!

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
