One of the most important pieces of the day can also be the most stressful! The timeline!! I am always MORE than happy to help my brides create their wedding day timeline, but I figured I’d share 5 things to keep in mind if you are making your own!
- Double your travel time. The time it takes to travel from location to location is often overlooked. It’s really a good idea to double the amount of time it should take in your timeline, just to be prepared for any accidents, construction, traffic, or even getting pulled over! If you end up not using all of it, great! It can help put you ahead of schedule or make up for some lost time from earlier in the day!
- If you’re doing a first look, it should start TWO hours before the ceremony. This gives you plenty of time to get bride + groom portraits done, bridal party, and maybe even some family portraits before the bride goes into hiding!
- For each portion of the day, add an extra ten minutes. Again, it’s better to have the extra time built in and not need it, than to not have it and need it! It’ll make a huge difference in your stress level for the day!
- Consult with your hair + make-up artists. They can give you a really accurate idea of how long this part of the day will take, so you can plan an appropriate start time to your day so that the rest of the day goes smoothly! This is one area of the day that can really throw things off if you didn’t plan for enough time! 🙂
- When do you want to be back at your reception? This will help you get an idea for how much time you have after the ceremony for family portraits + just married portraits. If you’re not doing a first look, it’s really important to have a solid handle on when you want to be back at the reception for entrances so you know how much time you have for photos!
