I texted her “I’m here! It’s raining, but the radar says it should be moving on in the next ten minutes or so!” Her response was “I don’t mind the rain 😉 ” We took a gamble on whether or not to move forward with their couples photos in Kennebunk last week. The weather looked so iffy, but the radar kept showing the rain getting pushed back later and later. But, the radar was wrong. It never stopped raining, and we walked around Kennebunk in the rain and had the best time! Have clear umbrellas + storm jacket for camera, will take photos 😉
This session has literally been a year in the making. Last fall Shila sent me an e-mail asking about purchasing a session as a gift for Stephen for Christmas. We planned to do it in January or February, but then had to move the date, and then COVID happened. So, last week, Stephen and Shila led me to a beautiful cemetery in Kennebunk and they rocked their session, rain and all!
I hadn’t seen these two since I photographed their wedding almost four years ago and it was just like reuniting with old friends 🙂 I have the best couples!! We laughed about jinxing ourselves with the rain (we said, “oh it’s not too bad right now!” and then it started raining harder), talked about home improvement projects, and just how life has changed for us over the years. It was so good for my soul! I felt so refreshed and invigorated by my time with them!

I think I’d do couples photos in Kennebunk with these two every single day and never get tired of it! It felt so good to be shooting again during this crazy year! Shila + Stephen – thanks for braving the rain and continuing to laugh!
