That Time My Husband Thought I Lied // The Barry Files

I was told to dress up (no sweatpants allowed) and I was blindfolded and put in the car. Wherever we were going was a surprise for me, and it turns out that Steven was bringing us to our own bridal shower! Our wedding was planned so quickly after our engagement that a bridal shower wasn’t even on my radar and I was DEFINITELY taken by surprise! It was super sweet of my family to do that for us!

But, that was the day that Steven will never let me forget. He tells me I’ve lied to him all this time, but really, I haven’t!

Like most bridal showers, there were games we played. One of these games was a, “how well do you know the bride?” game and everyone had to answer questions about me. Krystle had brought me to a different room so I could fill out an answer key. One of the questions was “what is Linda’s favorite color?” Well, growing up I was obsessed with pink, but over the course of late high school and college, it had shifted to purple and green. I still liked pink, but not as much as purple and green. But mostly everyone who was there knew me while I was growing up and I didn’t want them to feel bad for saying it was pink and it not being right!

So, I put the answer as “pink,” and Steven got it “wrong” because he said purple and green and everyone jokingly gave him a hard time about it.

I will NEVER live it down!! Any time favorite colors come up, he doesn’t skip a beat in reminding me that my favorite color is actually pink and that I lied to him.

Thankfully, I know it’s all in jest and we laugh about it!

Is there anything like this that a friend or family member won’t let you forget about? Tell me in the comments!!

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
