Polar Express in Portland

We had just arrived in Portland around noon after being in a car for 18 hours. My brother called me asking if I wanted to go with him to an event that he was surprising his kids with. I was really exhausted and not feeling so hot, so I offered to make dinner instead and let him borrow my D5000 to bring with him so he can get some photos of the kids during their Polar Express ride! He did a great job and the kids absolutely loved it!

They beat me home afterwards and when I walked in with the groceries my niece, Jasmine, couldn’t wait to tell me all about it.

“I never knew the Polar Express was real until today!”

“I got a bell! And a ticket!”

“I can hear the bell ring and that means I believe in Santa!”

“My favorite part was drinking the hot chocolate and seeing Santa!”

I was so happy to see how happy they were! It was fabulous 🙂 It’s amazing how much they’ll tell me about their life if they know I’m there to listen. It’s amazing.

Check out some photos that my brother, Jack, took of my niece and nephew on their little trip!

I love the feeling of this photo – how excited Jasmine is to have the bell, and the look on Zachie’s face as he’s looking up – you can just tell he’s so happy!

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
