My Goals for 2020

I recently shared what my word of the year for 2020 is. Today, I wanted to take a minute and share my goals for 2020. I really like putting them out there in the world sometimes, because it helps keep me slightly more accountable! Also, I think it’s fun to hear about other people’s goals! I’m pretty psyched about what I came up with this year as I did my PowerSheets prep, and without further ado, here are my goals!

1. Document Our Life

I LOVE being a photographer, and I’m so grateful for the skills I have. Because of them, I can create really high quality images of our everyday life, and get them made into beautiful books. This year I’m focusing on a new photo-a-day project, getting my 2017 scrapbook finished, and printing our 2019 album!

2. Preschool for Lily!

I found this awesome guide from Busy Toddler that I’m excited to use. Lily is SO freaking smart, and I really want to make sure we are encouraging her natural desire to learn! But, I also love to learn through playing and experiences, so of all the curriculums I looked through, this was the one that fit my needs the most! Lily is at home with me, so I’m excited to do a bit of homeschooling!

3. The Year of NEW

I’ve been feeling like I’ve kind of been in a rut. So, this year I’m making a conscious effort to have new experiences, see new places, try new foods, and learn new skills! One of the skills I’m most excited to learn more of is calligraphy!

4. Tend to my Relationships

I firmly believe we are made for connection. We shouldn’t live life alone. I want to be better about the relationships I have – my marriage, my friendships, and my family. I want to connect more and be more present when I’m with them!

5. Pursue Financial Freedom

We have approx $4k left in non-student loan debt to pay off, that we are hoping to pay off in the next couple of months! We are working hard!! Then the next step is to build up our savings a bit more and then tackle those student loans! We’ve been super focused and making short term sacrifices for the long term gain! Cannot wait to be ENTIRELY debt free in just a few years! Maybe even sooner!

6. Me, Myself, and I

I won’t share too much here, but I need to make myself more of a priority. I’ve come to accept that no one else can do this for me. So, I’m working really hard to figure out what that looks like for me and then putting it into action! This is probably going to be the hardest goal I tackle this year!

7. Grow my business

Moving to Boston has been a rough transition for my business. I’m feeling hopeful that this year will finally be the year I start feeling like I’m gaining traction!

Now that you know my goals for 2020, I’d love to know what some of your goals are!! 🙂

  1. […] My word for 2020 was “strengthen” and that definitely didn’t shake out in the way I intended it to. But, I did realize that word still applied. I had to find a new level of strength to go through a separation, a pregnancy, two moves, and adjusting to life as a mom of two! Looking back now, that word wasn’t wasted, even if my PowerSheets fell by the wayside by the end of the year. 2020 really took a lot of air out of me. […]

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
