Hello, 2018!

2018 Powersheets Goal Planner

Well, it’s so crazy to believe that another year has passed. I don’t know about you, but we actually missed the start of the New Year. Steven and I put Lily down to bed as usual, and didn’t have any actual plans to stay up for the ball drop. But, I’ve been at the end of season 4 of Gilmore Girls (my favorite part of the series!) and I wanted to keep watching, so I did. Before I knew it, I finished my fourth episode in a row and it was 12:03! Haha.

Every year I like to do a blog post welcoming in the new year, but first, I wanted to share some of the highlights from 2017!

  • Lily turning one. I can’t believe we have a toddler now!
  • Steven started a new job. I’m loving having a consistent schedule to rely on!
  • So. Many. Beach days!! One of my goals was to get outside as much as I could with Lily and we were by the ocean so much and I loved it! I’m looking forward to it so much again this summer!
  • Intentional date nights with Steven. We’ve started committing to one night out a month, and we’ve been going strong since August! I’ve been loving this time together!
  • Celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary!
  • Getting a massage – my second ever! Definitely need to work this in more often!
  • Watching Lily go from sitting, to crawling, to walking, to running! It’s amazing how much she’s changed this year!
  • The Salt Air Workshop in North Carolina. This weekend in the Outer Banks was so good for my heart and soul! And my business 🙂
  • A ton of really great family time over the holidays!
  • Burning candles in my home 🙂 A few months ago I realized we had a long lighter (I never burned candles because I hate matches and lighters, but LOVE candles!) and ever since I’ve been lighting a candle on the daily!

I think that every person experiences negative things throughout the year, but I think overall 2017 was a really great year, and I love to focus on the experiences that were positive and brought me joy! I think if we stop and do that on a regular basis it really does cultivate a grateful heart and attitude!

I have a feeling that 2018 is going to be a really fantastic year! I’m not sure what it is, but I know something is going to be different and I’m so excited about it!

All right, you all know how much I LOVE my PowerSheets! Over the past month I’ve been working hard on reflecting on the year before, looking at what worked, what didn’t work, what fires me up and so on.

A big picture was created before my eyes as I started to focus on what REALLY matters. What’s going to matter when I’m 80. As I went through this process I was able to find my word for the year of 2018:

THRIVE.

I am SO excited to focus on this word in every facet of my life. I have set the foundation for so many things – my relationships, my body, my faith, my business, and so on. Now it’s time to really start building on those and lead a THRIVING life, and not just surviving. I was really surprised to see what my ten goals for the year ended up being (maybe I’ll share those in a different post sometime!) but I am so EXCITED about each and every one of them! I’ve created action plans, and Steven and I worked on the first two together, and now I’m so ready to dig in!

I hope you all have an incredible year ahead of you, and be sure to focus on what really matters in your life – and don’t forget, your goals can change throughout the year!

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
