A lot of things change once you have a child. One thing in particular, is how I feel about certain times of the year. Before I had Lily, I didn’t really care too much about decorating for Christmas (beyond the tree and hanging lights in the living room!), and I didn’t need to – my sister usually went all out and did it!
But now Lily is getting older and I want this time of year to feel as magical to her as it did to me when I was growing up. I put out an all call on Facebook about decorating for Christmas for less than $50 and got some really great thoughts! I went out shopping with my sister and Lily and had a goal of not spending more than $20. I want to start small and each year add a little bit more! I ended our search spending $35 and feeling pretty good about it!
A friend suggested I share photos when I was done, so here I am 🙂 One of my favorite things is the paper chain. Lily and I had a lot of fun and she was really involved with coloring on the paper before I cut them into strips! I had intended to make it for our archway, but it ended up being WAY too long so I decided to hang them from the curtain rods 🙂 Oh, and I forgot to take a picture of it, but I bought this awesome metal sign for the yard outside that says “Merry Christmas” with a snowman!
It’s simple, and there’s not a whole lot, but that’s how I like to roll!Â
