Books I Read in 2019 | Portland Wedding + Family Photographer

Books I Read in 2019

When I started 2019, I didn’t have a set reading list for the year, like I did for 2018. But I did have a brainstormed list on my laptop in case I needed inspiration! Every time I read a book, I added it to a running list on my sticky notes, because otherwise I’d never remember, haha. So, I wanted to share the list of books I read in 2019 with you all!

I find that I tend to fall into a habit of reading fiction, then non-fiction, and then repeat. Also, I LOVE getting books from the library as much as I possibly can. This past year I did end up buying a few new books because I knew I’d want to keep them and refer back to them often!

Okay, so here’s a list of all the books I read in 2019!

  1. Talking As Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham // I love Lauren Graham and it was so fun to hear more about her life, and obviously her time on Gilmore Girls!
  2. In Conclusion, Don’t Worry About It by Lauren Graham
  3. Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick // I LOVED this book! Her style of writing was so good, and I definitely found myself thinking “YES GIRL!” and also laughing out loud a fair amount 🙂
  4. The Life Giving Home by Sally Clarkson // This was a really neat book for me because I really want my home to be a place that supports life, love and creativity. I enjoyed being able to see how this plays out in real life, and that you don’t need to have a Pinterest-perfect home to have a home that cultivates LIFE!
  5. Cozy Minimalist Home by Myquillyn Smith // I decided that when we live in a house that we own again, I’m definitely re-reading this. There were so many nuggets of wisdom and really I learned some neat things about interior design I definitely never knew about!
  6. Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis // I freaking loved Girl, Wash Your Face and so I knew I had to get this one too! It didn’t disappoint!
  7. Cultivate by Lara Casey // Lara Casey is one of my favorite humans to follow. I love everything about her and what she stands for, and her books always speak life into me.
  8. A Love Letter Life by Audrey and Jeremy Roloff // This one was good, but not one that I would probably re-read. I just don’t think their writing style really jived with me, which is a bummer because I love them!
  9. Every Breath by Nicholas Sparks // I decided I want to read all the Nicholas Sparks I haven’t read yet. This one was definitely a good one!!!
  10. Own Your Everyday by Jordan Lee Dooley // Whether you believe in God or not, I think every woman should read this book! It is just full of truths and life and I LOVE it. Highlighted ALL through it!!!
  11. Death’s End by Cixin Liu // This was the final book in the trilogy. I read the first two books a while ago and decided it was time to finish it! It’s “hard” sci fi, which made it kind of hard to read for me sometimes, but I thought it was really good! The stuff that happened in that book just blew my mind. It’s wild that someone can dream that stuff up for a book!
  12. Winter In Paradise by Elin Hilderbrand // A fun easy read. I got it on a whim at the library and I thought it was good! Apparently there’s a sequel coming out and I definitely think I’m going to read it when it does!
  13. Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport // You can read all my thoughts about this book HERE!
  14. Two by Two by Nicholas Sparks // I LOVED this book, and was caught off guard at the end. Steven came into the bedroom as I was finishing reading it and I was silently crying. I don’t *usually* cry when I read a book, so this one really got me.
  15. When Less Becomes More by Emily Ley // Another woman I will follow to the ends of the earth! This book was a great book to end the year with! I have her other two books, Grace, Not Perfection and A Simplified Life. Love them all!
  16. Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen // My friend Sarah recommended this book to me. I could not put this book down! If you haven’t read it, you need to!! I find books from this area completely fascinating!
Girl Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis and Cultivate by Lara Casey.

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
