How to take better photos of your kids | A free guide

It was maybe a couple of months ago when I was editing personal photos of Lily that I thought to myself “I’m so grateful that I have these skills to take great photos of Lily as she grows up. It makes me sad that not all moms have those same skills.” I shoot photos of Lily that don’t need to be edited, I just choose to do it that way so it’s just how I like it 🙂 But, it led me to posting a poll on social media seeing if there would be any interest in a quick-start guide to using a DSLR and there was an overwhelming response of “YES”.

I know so many mama friends who have these really awesome cameras, but keep them in “auto” mode because they don’t know what else to do with them, and the manuals don’t exactly tell you what all the things actually mean. To be frank, spending $600+ on a camera and then using it as a point and shoot is SUCH a disservice to the camera and to you. My photos of Lily are so damn precious to me, and I know that other moms cherish their photos of their kids regardless of the quality. But what if you could get consistently great photos of your child?

So, here we are today. I’ve worked pretty hard on this guide, and it’s a little weird to be giving it away for free, but if it helps even one person I know it’s going to be so worth it. Every mother (or father) deserves to have great photos of their kids in their everyday lives. This guide isn’t going to replace the need for a professional photographer because those babies are going to want to look back on photos that have YOU in them too! I’ve been a professional photographer for seven years and I still hire someone at least once a year to do our photos.

If you want to grab this guide today, go HERE! And if you know someone else who could benefit from this, please share it with them! I know I wrote this with moms in mind, but anyone who has a camera can take this guide and apply it!

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
