Okay, that’s a bold title, I know. But I truly believe in it. However, before I can tell you how Boomerang changed my life, I have to tell you a different story.
Earlier this year I finally made the switch from GoDaddy to Google for my domains and for my business email. I’ve been using gmail for my personal email for years and years, but never business. Over the last few years I’ve been growing increasingly frustrated with GoDaddy’s webmail – sometimes I literally couldn’t even send an email! However, making the switch to Google Suite was just too overwhelming for me to do on my own.
Enter: Robyn. She is my savior from Eleventy7 Marketing. I am soooo thankful that I was able to pay someone to take care of this for me! I didn’t have to worry about a single thing! She took care of it over the course of the weekend and I was able to seamlessly transition to this new life of Google Suite!
Then, as fate would have it, one of the videos in my Creative 24/7 subscription was about gmail and how to organize it. That in itself was incredible because I’m obsessed with organization! Within that video Boomerang was mentioned, and I’ve heard it mentioned before so I dug into it a little deeper.
Friends, I have no idea how I lived my life as an entrepreneur before these tools! I have a killer workflow in my CRM, but this just really tied it all together so nice and neat! Here are the three big ways that Boomerang and Google Suite have changed my life:
Canned Responses
It is SO easy to insert a template that I’ve created now!As business owners, if you’re sending the same e-mail more than once, you NEED to make it into a template. I seriously can’t believe how easy this is with google suite. I used to have to go into a draft, copy the email, go back to the email I wanted, paste, and THEN send. Now? I just click on two buttons and it’s inserted! Then all I have to do is go through and tweak it a bit for the person I’m communicating with!
The LITERAL Boomerang feature.
Boomerang can do a LOT, but I use it for two key things. The first is the actual Boomerang feature. When I’m corresponding with someone that I know I’m definitely going to need to follow up on, it can be hard to remember WHEN I need to do it. So, before the email is sent, I set it so that if I haven’t gotten a reply within four days, it gets sent back to the top of my inbox. This is hands down one of the most amazing features! I literally haven’t forgotten to follow up with anyone since I’ve started to use it!
Read receipts.
This made me feel a little creepy at first, but it’s been super helpful. When you use a read receipt (which the recipient can actually deny) it’ll track how many times the message has been opened. It’ll ALSO track if any of the links have been clicked. This is really helpful for me to see if new leads are actually opening up my pricing guide, for example.
The best part of all this is that Boomerang is a FREE extension in your browser! Just make sure you install it on all the computers you are using!
