I drove 1600 miles for this…and it was worth every mile! | Personal

I have been following this woman’s blog, instagram, and facebook for over two years now. Amanda Hedgepeth is most commonly known as being super bubbly, positive, and just the sweetest woman you’ll meet! I timidly sent her an e-mail back in January asking about maybe doing a mentoring session while I was on my April break from school. I heard back from her soon after and with much excitement! We planned a date for a mentoring session down in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. We also ended up scheduling a couples’ session with her, and I am SO glad we did!

Amanda and I started off talking business and photography at the Front Porch Cafe and eventually moved to the beach by Avalon Pier to finish up our mentoring and to do my headshots. I LOVED that salty air!!!

Words cannot express how GRATEFUL I am for this experience. I feel like I met a celebrity – a super humble, sweet, and genuine one!

The biggest thing I got out of this was the sense of community and support that just exudes from Amanda.  We talked about updating my branding, and the other things I do in my business. It was so nice to hear that I’m doing good things in my business from someone I truly look up to admire. She also answered every single one of my questions and I know will be someone I can always count on for support and advice!

We drove 1686 miles from Portland, Maine to Kitty Hawk, North Carolina and back between a Friday evening and a Tuesday morning. By “we” I mean Steven. He is an incredible man and I’m so thankful for him! It was so nice to just be able to process my experience and write down more thoughts in my notebook instead of focusing on driving.

This experience was so refreshing and really got me thinking about why I love to do what I do, and feeling so blessed that I actually get to have this photography business that I call mine!

Amanda, THANK YOU!!

xoxo

P.S. A blog will be coming with the amazing photos she took!!

I love this! I’ve had the pleasure of being around Amanda twice now and you cannot help but smile when you are around her. I love her energy, the love she has for her family, her love of photography and how willing she is to help others learn, and how she tells it like it is! I always say to my husband, “My friend Amanda…” She makes everyone feel like she is their friend from the first meeting. She’s the best 🙂

You can usually find me adding books to my never-ending “to read” list; challenging myself to do things like not shop for a year; sneaking crispy m+ms from my secret hiding spot so I don’t have to share them with my daughter; and melting over seeing my children smiling at each other.

Oh and I guess I should mention - I’m a seasoned Portland wedding photographer who provides not only kick-ass wedding photos, but also a meaningful and laid-back experience from the time you book to the delivery of your final images.

I share all things personal, business, tips, and life as a mom and business owner here on the blog!
